Komame-chan and Britain-chan

Komame-chan is the mascot of the Ministry of the Environment’s campaign against global warming. Britain-chan is the mascot of the British embassy in Tokyo’s environmental campaigns. Komame-chan’s profile is here. The two characters appear in a CD-ROM about environmental issues, details of which can be seen here. Komame-chan’s name in Japanese is コマメちゃん. Britain-chan’s name in Japanese is ブリテンちゃん.

Sunpo-chan is the mascot of the Minamishinshu Ohisama-Shinpo environmental organisation, based in the city of Iida, Nagano prefecture. The colors of the character are based upon the green mountains, blue rivers and orange sun of Iida. Sunpo-chan’s profile is here. Her name in Japanese is さんぽちゃん.

Penta-kun and Penta-kun

Penta-kun is the mascot of the Young People’s Center in the city of Takatsuki, Osaka prefecture. A small web page is here. His name in Japanese is ペンタくん.

Penta-kun is also the main mascot of the Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry in the Tohoku region of Japan. He is pictured below with the Bureau’s sub-mascot, Penko-chan. A small web page is here. Penta-kun’s name in Japanese is also ペンタくん. Penko-chan’s name in Japanese is ペンコちゃん.
